Why would anyone want to do this?
That was a question posed recently to me by a friend. My response was pretty simple....we need good people for good government. We need people with skills, courage, honesty and integrity that are willing to step up to make a positive impact on our community. If good people don't step up to lead, our system is doomed to failure.
The call to serve is something I take seriously. I have a unique skill set and background and will bring a different perspective to our school board. I'm an outsider. I have a business background. I haven't gone through a city leadership program. I ask questions. You will be told all of that is a bad thing. I strongly disagree. I'm not afraid to speak up and address critical issues that are important to our district and the city. I am also thoughtful, analytical and rational in my approach to these same issues.
Now is not the time for timidity or empty words. My views have been well-documented and there is no doubt on where I stand on the issues. This is the time for leadership and action. I'm committed to working together as a community. I fully support our educators. This community will come together with good and reasonable leadership. I'm convinced of it.
That is why I want to do this. I hope you will join me!
